Uh?
It seems like George is a very unsure character. He continually says the words Uh? and asks Hedda and others can you imagine? and imagine that? Also, the fact that he married Hedda not out of love but as a sort of social status in that he thought thats what he needed to do to be accepted in society. He seems like he has some low self esteem issues and doesn't really know what he wants, but feels he must just do what society says he must do.

yeah i agree with you here, i thought he kinda reminded me of steve carrels character in the 40 year old virgin. not the fact that he is a virgin or an inexperienced lover, but that he is very unsure and is always dominated by other characters. he never has his oen thoughts or action. i really think that he is a little baby
Yeah I agree but at the same time idk I dont exactly think he's a little baby but more of someone who isnt sure of themselves. Hes really worried about bothering others and their well being.. much like miss. tesman, who did raise him so that would make sense. But yeah I just found it annoying yet interesting in that he relied on everyone else, especially hedda, to bring up his own self esteem
yeah it really seems like george relies on others to raise his self esteem. but i disagree with you on the baby part. he cries to get his professorship, cant articulate any words past uh, and he needs to be cared for by his aunt, whom without he would be on the street
Hahhaha I guess I guess.. You could say that from ur observations babies do cry, speak in gibberish and are cared for but at the same time I kinda sympathize for him still. Just because he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and a good heart but he's got a horrible sense of himself and low self esteem
i think that he has a completely idiotic head on his shoulders. He only pays attention to the past and thus misses the fact that Hedda is just using him, and that she is cheating on him with other characters. Also he is walked all over by Hedda, and although this might mean he has low slefesteem, at a certain point you are just a small and helpless child. George is a little man in big shoes, shoes too big for him. Hes like a sixe 3 in chidren , and he is trying to fit into size 17 in mens
